We are privileged to have been selected as presenters at Wilderness Wildlife Week at the Leconte Center in Pigeon Forge, TN, beginning in 2015, and honored to have been invited to return each year. Other programs have been developed through our work with the My People Senior Activities Center and Office on Aging, Sevierville, TN.
We are available to speak at public events. The following presentations are available at this time, with new ones regularly added to the list.
If your organization has a specific topic in mind, let us know - we can often adapt existing presentations.

It was never in our original blueprint to become hiking instructors. We are cemetery historians. But one thing has a way of leading to another.
Because we spend so much time on the trail, we were asked if we would lead a monthly senior citizens hike for the My People Senior Activities Center and Office on Aging in Sevierville, TN. That program led to a hiker safety class, which was later included in the schedule at Wilderness Wildlife Week (WWW). That, in turn, led to an additional backpacking class for WWW.
Our backpacking class (Little Things Learned the Hard Way - Refining your backpacking gear and skills) is a collection of tips and tricks and is not intended to be a comprehensive presentation of the basic skills necessary to safely backpack on one's own. The Hiker Safety Class (Live to Hike Another Day - A common sense approach to safety on the trail) is suitable for day hiking, as well as overnight backpacking.
We offer here three of the handouts we use in these classes:
